COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FACILITATOR/ COORDINATOR
Across my 11-month fixed-term position (2023-24), I led the development of Belgrade's strategic planning as Theatre of Sanctuary, culminating in a three-year plan (2024-26) of how to support Refugees and Asylum Seekers across Coventry.
I also produced Belgrade’s first-ever Creative Wellbeing Day for people of all ages across Coventry to come and take part in free activities on National Social Prescribing Day in March 2024, including yoga, poetry, a visit from a local therapy dog, free refreshments, a collection of conversation cafes, taster drama workshops and a World Music session.
I delivered Belgrade’s first workshops with Drama therapists from Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, delivered the first Queer Cafe, and facilitated the weekly 50+ Drama Hub group. We created a multi-artform piece of theatre, ‘Scribble Blank Blank’, using filmed and live performances exploring whose voice matters, the power of storytelling and the power of the storyteller.
“Your ability to captivate and involve the students, despite the language barrier, speaks volumes about your talent and dedication. The workshop was exceptionally well-led, and the students were not only engaged but also thoroughly enjoyed themselves…
As teachers with years of experience, we were also inspired by your approach. The methods you employed to engage the students were enlightening and provided us with new strategies to incorporate into our own teaching practices. Your session was a testament to the power of creativity and the arts in bridging gaps and fostering a sense of community and belonging.”
