APPROACH
The why is always important to me, whether it’s, ‘Why are we telling this story now?’ or ‘Why do we work in this way?’ I’m curious to seek out the context, to ground my work into the here and now.
For the ‘Why do I work in Theatre?’ side quest, listen here.
We can be pretty outcome-orientated in the arts so I challenge this - I value and invest in process and outcome equally. In community and outreach work so often the juicy, good stuff is happening along the way - the confidence building, the self-belief, the communication skills.
Dare I say (yes I do), I am an anti-capitalist, blue-sky-thinker, passionate about deconstructing societal expectations, outdated power structures and theatre industry norms too! I don’t have all the answers but I enjoy exploring and collaborating with others to figure out how non-hierarchically we can work together.
I experience the world outside of gender and neurotypical binaries and this means queering form and content is a natural instinct for me.
Currently, I am exploring digital innovation of my theatre-making practice through DYCP funding, researching and nerding out about Legislative Theatre, and keen to direct more work in 2025, applying my 8 years of development as a Facilitator.
